The aviation and aerospace industries are made up of many different people and a wide variety of companies. The designers or builders, whether small or large, all have played key roles to have made what the industries are today.
Here at AirProgress, we have focused on what is new and innovative as well as past designs that truly captured the imagination of millions of aviation enthusiast around the world.
We cover homebuilt aircraft and well as from the largest manufactures such as Boeing and Airbus.
Somewhat in the middle, aircraft from the business jet aviation sector are featured as well. The Learjet was the beginning and now companies such as Cessna, Honda and Pilatus have been building the next generation of small business jets.
An outstanding example of a mid-sized business jet is built by Embraer. Their Praetor 600 can fly to many intercontinental destinations with a range of over 4000 nautical miles.
Of the larger business jets, we find companies such as Bombardier and their long range Global 7500 which fly fastest than any commercial passenger jet airliner now flying. We are talking about this jet able to achieve a maximum velocity of Mach .94 which is almost the speed of sound!
We place special value on the men and women that pilot the aircraft from a small single engine plane to a giant, Queen of the Skies, Boeing 747 jumbo jet. And sometimes they fly even smaller and lighter, such as a sailplane, or a massive Airbus A380 double-decker jet airliner.
At AirProgress, our mission is to feature stories and interviews of some of the great aviation designers and builders. In our first print edition, to be released next year, we will feature a special story about the legendary homebuilt aircraft designer, Mr. Jim Bede. His breakthrough BD-5 micro sized homebuilt really captured the imagination of aviators, and many others that wanted to be aviators, around the world.
Mr. Jim Bede will only be the first of a long list of important and often legendary aviation designers.
Also in our first print issue will be the first of many excerpts of a nearly three-hour interview with highest flight time pilot living today, Mr. Clay Lacy. The length of his career and accomplishments is beyond compare. We will review some of his experiences flying over 300 different types of aircraft.
One extra interesting segment of Clay's career will explore his interactions with Bill Lear and helping to make Learjet an early success. Clay absolutely played a major role in the early development of the business jet aviation sector.
As a side note we have his book Lucky Me, personally autografted by Clay himself, for sale. Send inquiry below for more details.
Aviation history is, of course, filled with a great many outstanding pilots and we will cover the ones that helped make it the great industry it has become today.
Special note: while the age of autonomous passenger aircraft is upon us, we will still be advocating for qualified pilots to have ultimate command and control of any passenger carrying aircraft in the future.
The forgoing is just two of the main areas of aviation and aerospace that we cover. Below we list other areas of aviation that Air Progress will cover as we add a printed version to our magazine. Stay tuned as we grow our magazine and also feature not only a quarterly print edition but a final year end annual edition.
We will provide a Brief Review of the 10 most interesting business aircraft after the upcoming NBAA-BASE show.
